2012 has been designated the International Year of the Co-operative by the United Nations. Scotmid will be part of the celebrations showcasing the fantastic world of co-operation, over the coming twelve months.
2012 has been recognised as the International Year of
Co-operatives by the United Nations. This is an acknowledgement by
the international community that co-operatives drive the economy,
respond to social change, are resilient to the global economic
crisis and are serious, successful businesses creating jobs in all
sectors.
As Scotland's largest independent co-operative, Scotmid will be
participating in fantastic events which will highlight the amazing
work carried out by co-operatives all around the world. We'll
be contributing our voice to shout about some great but little
known facts, such as - over a billion people are members of
co-operatives around the world, 3 billion people secure their
livelihood through co-operatives and did you know, there's a
co-operative in every UK postcode?
