Community Treecycle, has become a lucky recipient of a £300 community grant from Scotmid Co-operative.
The grant will be put towards the purchase of a twenty five ton
log splitter.
A Community Interest Company, Community Treecycle was created by
Clive Bowman in March of this year. The simple premise behind
the project is to promote the sustainable management and enjoyment
of local woodlands.
Community Treecycle Director, Clive Bowman, said, "Low cost
access to wood fuel is one way to help reduce the community's use
of fossil fuels. Community Treecycle will enable local people
to play a vital part in the sustainable management of local
woodland ensuring products are utilised to limit carbon emissions
and enhance social and economic opportunities for the community now
and in the future. The grant from Scotmid means that we can
invest more easily in essential capital and progress with wood
processing plans more quickly."
